When someone is suffering domestic abuse, it’s vital to make an accurate and fast assessment of the danger they're in, so they can get the right help as quickly as possible. The DASH Risk checklist is a tried and tested way to understand risk. DASH stands for domestic abuse, stalking and ‘honour’-based violence. It is based on research about the indicators of high-risk domestic abuse.

The DASH Risk Assessment Training sessions below are for all frontline workers, working with families in Hartlepool only.

Course Aim: To help participants to understand this DASH Checklist and increase their confidence in using this as a tool to assess the risks victims face.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this training the attendees will:Have increased knowledge & understanding about the DASH Risk Assessment and increased confidence in completing this with victims of Domestic Abuse.

  • Be able to assess and manage the risks that are highlighted from completion of the DASH.
  • Have an increased understanding regarding questioning techniques to use when working with victims of Domestic Abuse.
  • Have an increased understanding of the appropriate steps following completion of DASH Checklist where high risk behaviours have been identified.
  • Have an increased awareness of local services and referral pathways for those who experience, perpetrate or are affected by domestic abuse.
