Operation Shield has been launched to gather intelligence on child sexual exploitation, modern day slavery and other aspects of VEMT. Operation Shield will feed intelligence to the Cleveland Police VEMT (Vulnerable, Exploited, Missing, Trafficked) team so they can increase reporting and disrupt offenders.
Safeguarding Children’s Board partner agencies should use the Operation Shield reporting form to share information with the police regarding a person being vulnerable, exploited, missing or trafficked and where child sexual exploitation may be connected. This could be occurring in a particular venue/location or involve particular vehicles etc. The form can also be used to share information regarding possible perpetrators of VEMT related incidents.
Detective Inspector Cath Galloway and head of the VEMT team said: “We rely on our partners being aware of VEMT issues when working within their organisations and in their individual roles. It is vital that partners share information with us as this information could be essential in forming part of a bigger picture for the police and the organisations we work alongside.”
The Operation Shield reporting form can be accessed below. Intelligence should then be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org
